Giant River Otter - Paint by Numbers Kit

A giant river otter lifts its head from dark tannin water, whiskers fanned and nostrils lifted as if it has just caught a scent on the breeze. Its chocolate-brown body forms one sleek, sweeping shape, broken only by a cream throat patch that glows against the shadowy river. This is Canaima National Park in Venezuela, where the water runs the color of strong tea.

Wide, flat lily pads float across the surface in fresh yellow-greens and give the lower half of the canvas its calm rhythm. Behind the otter, overhanging jungle and tangled roots form a deep forest-green backdrop. Cool dappled daylight ties everything together, and the earthy browns and leafy greens move gently into one another. The large, readable shapes make it a pleasure to paint, especially the rippled reflection under the otter, where cream and umber break into small, wavering strokes.

Beginners will find the big color areas easy to follow, and wildlife lovers and national park fans will enjoy the details of the whiskers and the glossy fur. It also makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves South American rivers. Pick up a brush and bring this watchful otter to the surface.
