Leaping Red-Tailed Monkey - Paint by Numbers Kit

A red-tailed monkey stretches across the whole canvas in mid-leap, one foot still gripping a mossy vine while its outstretched hand reaches for the next. The rust and cream of its slim body, and a long tail curling like a copper ribbon, are the warmest shapes in a scene of deep, cool greens.

The setting is the high canopy of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. Midday light breaks through the leaves in patches, brightening the fur and the yellow-green foliage while the shadowed leaves behind stay teal and emerald. Broad vine loops sweep through the frame as curved bands of bark, dotted with tiny climbing leaves. Blending the fur from burnt orange into pale cream is the most satisfying part of the painting.

The shapes are large and easy to read, so the kit suits beginners as well as hobbyists who like layering greens. It also makes a good gift for anyone who loves Uganda's national parks and their wildlife. Pick up your brush and follow the monkey across the treetops.
