Schmincke Oil Paint Binder 200 ml

Schmincke Binder for Oil Paints 200 ml

Binder for oil paints from Schmincke was specially developed for making your own oil paints. Combined with high-quality artist pigments, this medium creates brilliant oil paints with a paste-like consistency and good drying properties. It is also suitable for making light shades.

How to use:

Shake before use. Spread a teaspoon of pigment on a glass plate or flat glass tile and mix in the appropriate amount of base. The ratio of base to binder depends greatly on the type of pigment, as each has slightly different properties, weight, and so on. If you are unfamiliar with the pigment, start with approximately 1 part base to 1 part pigment. Mix thoroughly, for example with a spatula or spoon. Depending on the mixture, add pigment or base until the paint has the right consistency for use. The proportions are ideal when dried paint strokes have a smooth surface and do not crumble.

You can use the paint right away or store it in a sealed container, preferably glass or metal. The paint and the base itself can be thinned with regular turpentine and various thinners for oil paints, which are also used to clean tools. You can also use several pigments at once to achieve an original shade. In that case, we recommend mixing even more thoroughly than when using just one pigment.
